- Approximately 4+ years of financial services experience ideally in the Shared Services Center
- Hands-on experience in managing and leading finance teams
- Advanced general ledger system and excel knowledge
- English language skills (another European language as an advantage)
- Ability to meet tight and regular deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Life/non-life insurance industry experience as an advantage
- Demonstrated experience of implementing and overseeing finance controls

What will be your responsibilities?
You will work closely with the EMEA teams located in other countries as well as regional & other COE staff. You will be expected to proactively drive completion of deliverables. You will gain a great understanding of MetLife’s business as you will liaise with many different teams and departments within the company.
Employee in this role:
- Supervise a small team to ensure accurate completion of accounting for a number of countries across EMEA
- Ensure accurate processing and reporting of financial data to ensure completion of all US GAAP monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting
- Complete and review reconciliations and journal entries
- Responsible for ensuring adherence to Companies Accounting and Operational policies including Balance Sheet and P+L controls are in place
- Summarise results and items affecting the EMEA region in a clear and efficient format
- Identify and implement improvements and efficiencies in the reporting process

What will you be responsible for?
Accounting
Accounting of non-policy related transactions (fixed assets, intercompany, expenses, equity). It relates to the MetLife Group as a whole versus a specific group under the larger entity.
Accounting and controlling services for insurance operations including posting journal entries, performing reconciliations, reporting, data and result analysis and supporting various internal stakeholders.
Accounts Payable
Processing invoices, vendor maintenance, handling employee expenses and supporting simplification of end-to-end AP processes.
Solvency II Reporting
Preparing public and regulatory reporting on the financial condition of the insurance companies in MetLife Group – all in accordance with the EU Solvency II legislation.
US GAAP Reporting
Taking care of the overall US GAAP financial reporting processes for 26 countries, including SEC (Securities & Exchange Commission) Reporting & IAIS (International Association of Insurance Supervisors) Reporting.
Actuary
Delivering various actuarial tasks that may include experience studies, valuation, and projections on a different basis (EV, Solvency II, US GAAP) for MetLife operations on a broad range of product types and projects across the EMEA region.

If you have…
- Degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics/MIS or equivalent and Qualified Member of Professional Accounting Association (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
- Excellent understanding of SOX, COSO, control frameworks.
- 5+ years of experience in Accounting/Controlling/SOX preferably within Life Insurance of which at least 2 should be in leading projects or people.
- Proven record of dealing with Multinational reporting deadlines across multiple times zones.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Process and systems oriented.

What will be your responsibilities?
The Risk and Control Lead will act as a business partner to the EMEA Controller and will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the EMEA control environment over Financial Reporting, as well as relaying any issues and weaknesses to the EMEA Controller and Internal Control Department.
- Oversee adherence to SOX requirements and monthly/quarterly closing related deliverables.
- Liaise with internal and external audit for planning purposes or during the audit engagement.
- Analyze EMEA’s risks and emerging issues to provide tracking, proper escalation and guidance on how they should be addressed.
- Advise on adequacy of the areas documentation, reviews, escalation and overall control environment.
- Provide ‘best practice’ perspective based on feedback from other Risk and Control Leads.
- Sit on the Global Data Governance Council representing EMEA FMG.
- Actively engage with internal audit to advise on overall testing approach and methodology.
- Review and analyze testing results to aggregate impact of issues.
- DIME process, adjustment of error for estimate.
